CONSERVATION OF ENDANGERED SPECIES IN THE COASTLINE OF THE GALERA - SAN FRANCISCO MARINE RESERVE
The Galera San Francisco Marine Reserve is a sanctuary of marine biodiversity. In this unique ecosystem, four species of sea turtles —green, hawksbill, leatherback, and olive ridley—find a haven to nest and feed. However, this paradise faces serious threats, such as plastic pollution, illegal fishing, and unchecked coastal development, endangering these species and the ecosystem's balance.

At Punta Tortuga, we work tirelessly to mitigate these threats. We conduct continuous beach monitoring, ensuring the protection of nests from egg-laying to hatching. We rescue injured sea turtles and lead cleanup campaigns to remove plastics and other debris from the marine environment. Through our efforts, we aim not only to conserve but also to educate and mobilize the community toward a more sustainable future for these extraordinary creatures and their habitat.
